  3. OVERVIEW
  4.  
  5. Stiletto is intended for people who want button-bar task switcher/launcher and
  6. clock/calendar which always stays at the same place on the desktop and
  7. which lets them use any mouse button to run a command.
  8.  
  9. Stiletto incorporates these features:
  10.     A small-footprint button bar launcher
  11.         (e.g. fits over title bar of maximized window).
  12.     Use of any mouse button to launch tasks.
  13.     User-configurable task launch menu with submenus.
  14.     Switch to or close any active task.
  15.     Make any active task or launch any command as always on top.
  16.     Clock and date display on any button.
  17.     Built-in commands for windows exit/restart, browsing and running files,
  18.          moving the button bar.
  19.     Support for file associations.
  20.     Alarms, regular chimes, and scheduled activation of commands.
  21.     Wallpaper display and switcher/randomizer.
  22.     Assignment of sound to application events.
  23.     Randomization and testing of system and application sounds.

  25. Stiletto is not intended to replace Program Manager or another Windows
  26. Shell that you are using, such as Norton Desktop for Windows.  Instead,
  27. Stiletto is intended to provide quick, minimal-mouse click access to
  28. your most-used commands while taking up very little desktop space.

  31. INSTALLATION
  32.  
  33. To install Stiletto, first UnZip stiletto.zip into its own directory.
  34. Then execute the program setup.exe which comes in the zip.  This
  35. program copies the 3d Control library to your Windows directory (if you
  36. do not already have it).

  38. After you are satisfied that Stiletto is working, you can delete
  39. stiletto.zip and ctl3dv2.bak.
  40.  
  41. To start Stiletto, execute stiletto.exe.  Stiletto will use the default
  42. configuration stored in stiletto.ini.

  44. Stiletto.exe must be in the same directory as the stiletto.ini file and
  45. the stilethk.dll library that are included in stiletto.zip.

  47. If you find Stiletto useful, you will probably want to put in it your
  48. StartUp group so that Stiletto starts automatically with Windows.
  49.  
  50. To de-install Stilletto, remove it from your StartUp group and
  51. erase the directory containing Stiletto.   (The 3D control
  52. library is used by many programs so you should leave it in your
  53. Windows directory; the file name is ctl3dv2.dll).
